Glenn Beck’s Ron Paul smear campaign continued with an attack on Ron Paul supporters and their ability to raise $4.3 million in one day. Lew Rockwell writes on his blog today:
As the Ron Paul movement grew, it was inevitable that the neocons would turn from demeaning to smearing. One clownish and sinister example was Glenn Beck’s CNN show last night.
Beck actually said that the US military may have to be used against the growing threat of domestic terrorism: Ron Paul donors. Why? Because there is a “rising tide of disenfranchisement” (sic) and Ron’s volunteers raised $4.3 million in one day “to commemorate Guy Fawkes” in a “money bomb.” Of course, no American knows anything about the English Catholic rebel of four centuries ago. The donors were referencing the movie and graphic novel, V for Vendetta.
Then Beck says he a libertarian in his heart and it’s OK to raise money anyway you want, so long as you are not “blowing people up.” This from a guy who advocates blowing people up every day, so long as they’re Arabs.
Its also interesting to me how Beck twists the idea of defending the Constitution into denouncing those who actually do. Ron Paul supporters are more educated and more actively defending the Constitution than any other group I’m aware of. Beck should be ashamed of himself.
Ironically, Beck is a guy that I want to like and respect. I appreciate some of his comments about illegal immigration and about the declining dollar/NAU problem. I appreciate the fact that he joined the LDS faith since I’m also a member. But how can you completely trust someone who has that much power? He recently signed a $50 million contract making him the third highest paid radio talk show host next to Limbaugh and Hannity. Might as well have said he just got a promotion into the upper ranks of the government’s Ministry of Information, Audio Propaganda Department.
Here is a fitting video response from one young american:

Beck has more haters than lovers, more enemies than friends. The best thing we as Ron Paul supporters can do is laugh him off, and hope he continues to make outlandish attacks against us. We can only gain as he digs the neocon grave deeper and deeper.
In spite of Beck’s long arm of influence, I think (and hope) you’re right. Even the thicker-headed Americans are going to start realizing the ridiculousness of these smears, when people like Beck are stooping so low.
“Beck should be ashamed of himself.”
Yes he should be, but there is not the slightest chance he ever will be. He purposely appeals to the lowest common denominator of American citizens’ intellect, and he does so shamelessly and unremittingly. He is an absolutely execrable human being.

[...] equating Ron Paul supporters with terrorists and alienating them from his viewership, Beck seemingly has offered an olive branch to Dr. Paul [...]
For all the time I spend on the internet I have to admit that before today I never heard of Mr. Beck, nor do I know anything about him that isn’t noted in this or the olive branch article whose link I followed to get here.
Imagine that: they pay this guy $50 million as an influential pundit and I know more about Dave Beck, the ex-Teamsters boss from somewhere in the 50s-60’s, than I do Glenn. (Which isn’t saying much because all I know about Dave is that Jimmy Hoffa eventually succeeded him.)
Steve, I suppose not knowing about Glenn Beck can be a good thing, for as they say: if you don’t watch the news you’re uninformed, if you do watch the news you’re misinformed. We’re of course blessed to have the internet and all of its alternative information sources. I would have to admit that I know nothing about Dave Beck, which only shows I need to study more history.
My opinion of Beck isn’t completely determined, some days I see him as a pawn and then some days I feel he is sincere in his quest for truth and proper government policies. I am, however, set on my opinion of Ron Paul’s integrity and the fact that we need to get him elected, along with other like-minded individuals in Congress and in local government.
