Police Reject Candidate for Being Too Intelligent

This is not the first time I’ve seen a story like this, it is apparently typical hiring policy for police in many areas. Let’s face it, they want a dumbed-down police force that’s just smart enough to follow orders. We just can’t have our police thinking too much or questioning procedure!

This story says that the average I.Q. for a cop is 104, if that is accurate it means there are thousands of police with I.Q.’s in the 80-100 range. Is it any surprise then that incidents of police brutality and abuses upon citizens (as well as the Constitution) are now so frequent?

From Ananova:

A US man has been rejected in his bid to become a police officer for scoring too high on an intelligence test.

Robert Jordan, a 49-year-old college graduate, took an exam to join the New London police, in Connecticut, in 1996 and scored 33 points, the equivalent of an IQ of 125.

But New London police interviewed only candidates who scored 20 to 27, on the theory that those who scored too high could get bored with police work and leave soon after undergoing costly training.

Mr Jordan launched a federal lawsuit against the city, but lost.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York upheld a lower court’s decision that the city did not discriminate against Mr Jordan because the same standards were applied to everyone who took the test.

He said: “This kind of puts an official face on discrimination in America against people of a certain class. I maintain you have no more control over your basic intelligence than your eye color or your gender or anything else.”

He said he does not plan to take any further legal action and has worked as a prison guard since he took the test.

The average score nationally for police officers is 21 to 22, the equivalent of an IQ of 104, or just a little above average.

The Dollar is a Big Element of U.S. Security

Here is a letter from Ron Paul to the Wall Street Journal published today:

I was delighted to read in Judy Shelton’s op-ed, “Security and the Falling Dollar” (Feb. 15), that at long last the security implications of the dollar’s collapse have made their way into the mainstream media. The dollar’s strength (or lack thereof) has been of paramount concern to me, and the subject of many of my statements over the past several years. Decades of manipulation by the Federal Reserve have benefited the government and certain politically-connected firms, while gradually destroying the purchasing power of middle-class Americans. Despite numerous warnings in the past, it is only now at a point of acute crisis that Washington insiders are beginning to awaken to the reality of the end of dollar hegemony.

While I desire reform of our current monetary system, my own proposals have not been as all-encompassing as Ms. Shelton’s suggestion to return to a Bretton Woods-style system. Her recommendation, though, that gold backing should make up a component of a future monetary system, is one that we would all do well to heed. My own legislative proposals focus around eliminating the taxes and laws that dissuade individuals and institutions from using gold as currency or as a backing for currency. By allowing market processes to determine the issuance of currency, we can allow individuals to decide for themselves what currency they wish to use. This would lead to a gradual reintroduction of sound money and avoid the market shocks that occur when monetary decisions are mandated by government fiat.

Ron Paul Slams Bernake for Deliberately Destroying the Dollar

Ron Paul — the only presidential candidate who years ago foresaw our financial troubles coming due to our bad economic policies — schooled Ben Bernake yet again today during a House Financial Services Committee meeting. In regards to Bernake’s adherence to failed policies Paul warned him that “history is against you”.

This comes at a moment when oil prices are hitting record highs and when the Euro is at an all-time high against the dollar. Oil is predicted to climb much higher over the next few months; currently oil is very close to an all-time inflation adjusted high. Gold is also climbing quickly — and gold would be even higher if not for the artificial suppression of it’s price.

Between the tanking dollar (inflation), the housing meltdown, the credit crunch, and a pointless war in Iraq (that costs well over 400 million dollars per day) our economic outlook is not too bright and the middle class could soon be in danger of disappearing. On top of all that you’ve got Alan Greenspan over in the middle east last week encouraging them to drop the dollar peg. Even government can’t be this incompetent… it’s like it’s all being done on purpose! Hmm, so how long until they bring out the Amero?

Ron Paul appeared on the Fox Business channel to further discuss the dollar, monetary policy, the economy, and the events of the FSC meeting:

Ron Paul Discusses Trans-Texas Corridor on CNN’s Lou Dobbs 2.19.2008

Wait a minute — is this the same CNN network that criticized Ron Paul and accused him of spreading a conspiracy theory when he mentioned the NAFTA Superhighway and Trans-Texas Corridor during the presidential debates??? (The correct answer is, of course, YES!)

Prodigy of Mobb Deep Speaks on Ron Paul

“I’ve been lookin at this dude Ron Paul, he’s been exposing a lot of things that need to be talked about… It’s all about freedoms — they’re trying to take away our freedoms. Everybody needs to come together as a people and protect our freedoms. Put religion aside, put color aside…” –Prodigy

Bush Tells Truth About the “War on Terror”

Check out the look on Rumsfields face when Bush accidentally tells the truth about the bogus war on terror:

Truthers Organize Large Donation Day For First Responders

Good for Dennis Kucinich, he’s not afraid to confront the realities of 911. (See video of Kucinich meeting with 911 first responders) There are tens of thousands of 911 first responders in the situation that this man, David Miller is in. Unable to work, denied healthcare benefits and other financial aid from the government and people they served on 911.

Are we concerned about our real American heroes? Many people like to claim that 911 truthers don’t care about the people who suffered from 911, such as the 911 families or 911 first responders. My question is two-fold, why are 911 truthers the only groups who are trying to help the first responders get their much needed medical care, and why are 911 truth groups often made up of 911 families and first responders? It’s now time to draw the line: Put up or shutup. Whoever says they care about these heroes, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is. The first responders may not have much time left.

Visit the link below to learn more and donate to help the first responders cover healthcare and other expenses. I also recommend watching this video, Dust to Dust, that tells the story of the first responders.

The Lesson? Record All Encounters With Police

Civil liberties? Constitutional rights? Common sense? No, no and no. You can’t count on any of them anymore in the emerging united police states of America. It seems that personal recording devices are about the only remaining, reliable method for self-defense against tyranny. Keep them with you, in your car and in your house.

Not to keep bashing on cops, but this blog is about liberty and it’s defense. It seems there are more and more abuses of it all the time by police and people need to be aware that this is happening. I’ve only seen a small fraction of what’s actually been recorded (this is not something I go looking for) and what’s recorded is only a fraction of what’s taking place. You may not be able to prevent run-ins with abusive police (and I’m not saying all police are bad — there is a chance you’ll come across a good one) but at least if you record the interaction you’ll have a safety net. Besides, they have their cameras everywhere all the time watching us. If you don’t document your experience then the police will have all the power if it comes down to their word against yours. Guilty until proven innocent is now the norm for common citizens — the burden of proof is on us.

Apparently this incident occurred last summer (even though this video just hit the internet a few days ago). That Officer Rivieri dude rightfully was suspended for his actions. Nevermind that it will probably just amount to a paid vacation.

Cops Shoot Woman Twice, Laugh About It

A crowd of Miami storm troopers shot an unarmed woman — twice. Then they joked and laughed about it. They also referred to innocent citizens as “scurrying cockroaches”.

An innocent Ohio woman called 911 and was essentially gang raped (absent penetration) by a group of cops then left naked for hours in a jail cell; AKA “strip searched”.

Honest, good police deserve everyones respect for doing a difficult job. But there is a dangerous trend occurring in this country that only seems to be getting worse. More and more limits are being placed on our civil/Constitutional rights while our police forces are simultaneously becoming more militarized.

Pointless and often brutal police state tactics include the tasing of our fellow citizens at the drop of a hat, which have sometimes resulted in the death of the victims — er, I mean “suspects”. This is nothing less than an instant death penalty of sorts, but without formal charges or a trial. Sadly, these incidents may be only the beginning if this trend continues. If it can happen to these people, it can happen to any of us.

McCain Makes Cheney Look Like Gandhi

Some wisdom (and sanity) from Pat Buchanan about John McCain’s policies…

Reasons To Be Critical of the Federal Reserve

I’ve been reading “The 5000 Year Leap,” a book about the principles the Founding Fathers espoused which inspired the formation of the Constitution. Coincidentally I had been reading the chapter about “Free Market Economics” when I was directed to the article I quote below—but in this chapter the author (Cleon Skousen) describes how it had been Thomas Jefferson’s desire to set up the United States so that Congress (not private banks) controlled the issuance of money. Sadly, his desire was never fully implemented in the U.S., and pretty much from day one, because of bad policy amidst an economic depression, the issuance of money was turned over to a private consortium of bankers, and later to the fed, another private bank.

Jefferson seems to be calling from the grave with disapproval:

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs. “
