ABC News is reporting the following:

Ron Paul is not holding his breath for a speaking slot at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis/St. Paul in September and he has long planned a day-long shadow convention to give him an arena to expound his limited government mantra.

But, worried about the size of his arena, his new political action group–The Campaign for Liberty–has booked a bigger one.

They’ll announce today they’ve changed from the Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota to the much larger Target Center, seating capacity: 18,000.

Ron Paul was really making the rounds yesterday. Funny how people are having to admit he’s been right all along now that it’s becoming undeniably obvious. Even Glenn Beck is treating him with more respect these days (if only Glenn could get the whole war on terror/foreign policy thing figured out he’d be an OK guy!). Sounds like he’s not going to run. This is very disappointing, but I understand why he would be concerned for his family, and how that would influence his decision. Add that to the lack of support from the country for truth and good government and its a wonder anyone with integrity and a conscience gets involved in politics. However, the nation will be worse off without him in the Senate.

There was basically a complete blackout of this huge event by the mainstream media—we’re left to faithful bloggers and independent news sources. The march was reportedly spoken of on CNN who apparently claimed the event was Ron Paul alone speaking to a crowd of “500 to 800 people.” Well, look at the images for yourself, there were thousands of people on the ground marching in support of Ron Paul, liberty, and the restoration of the Republic. More honest estimates indicate at least 5,000 to 8,000 people present, with some putting the number as high as 20,000.

Congress votes to immunize lawbreaking telecoms, legalize warrantless eavesdropping

The Democratic-led Congress this afternoon voted to put an end to the NSA spying scandal, as the Senate approved a bill — approved last week by the House — to immunize lawbreaking telecoms, terminate all pending lawsuits against them, and vest whole new warrantless eavesdropping powers in the President. The vote in favor of the new FISA bill was 69-28. Barack Obama joined every Senate Republican (and every House Republican other than one) by voting in favor of it, while his now-vanquished primary rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, voted against it. John McCain wasn’t present for any of the votes, but shared Obama’s support for the bill. The bill will now be sent to an extremely happy George Bush, who already announced that he enthusiastically supports it, and he will sign it into law very shortly.
