Ventura notes, “I was waterboarded…it IS torture.” Seems like all the military people who have been waterboarded have this same view of it. It’s all of the “chickenhawks” (as Ventura would call them) who have never experienced waterboarding who seem to think it’s ok.

Ah, yes. Homeland Security U.S.A. is the latest in mind-numbing “reality” television and it looks to be little more than propaganda for the state. Sit back, relax, and be acclimated to the incremental loss of your liberties in the comfort of your own home!

Just watch — all of these people in uniform are so nice and good and official looking! There is nothing to fear, we should give them more power to “do their jobs”. Pay no attention to the 20,000+ troops being stationed in America or the warrantless checkpoints because it’s all “for your safety” of course. Everything changed a few years ago (don’t you know?) — posse comitatus and the Bill of Rights are obsolete these days.

Sounds like he’s not going to run. This is very disappointing, but I understand why he would be concerned for his family, and how that would influence his decision. Add that to the lack of support from the country for truth and good government and its a wonder anyone with integrity and a conscience gets involved in politics. However, the nation will be worse off without him in the Senate.

Group hopes to ‘flood the Oval Office’ with 25,000 copies of the Constitution

The Center for Constitutional Rights plans to “flood the Oval Office with copies of the Constitution this holiday season … as a seasonal reminder that the Constitution needs to be upheld; not destroyed.”

If you add your name to the long list of signatures on this letter, CCR will send it along with another copy of the Constitution to the White House. The group is hoping to get more more than 25,000 signatures and to send that many Constitutions to President Bush by January 2008.

The pending confirmation of Michael Mukasey to the position of Attorney General, now destined to go to the full Senate, thanks to Lieber-moves of Shumer and Feinstein, is troublesome to more than just we in the progressive community. Senator Patrick Leahy received this letter (.pdf) from four retired JAGs, who understand that the concept of “Rule of Law” must mean something, even with Bushies in charge.
