Rand Paul on Healthcare, Inflation, & True Free Markets

Good interview with Rand Paul on CSPAN, Sept 16th, 2009. Rand makes some very important points about healthcare, the increasing price inflation, and the need for price mobility and true free markets instead of government price controls. Rand is very articulate and succinct here. Rand’s response (at the end of part 2) to the woman’s claim that ‘healthcare is a right’ was great.

Rand is bombarded with a suspiciously one-sided batch of callers all wanting socialized healthcare handouts, some of them quite belligerent, and yet he still keeps his cool while carefully explaining what is really happening with healthcare access and expenses. Get this guy elected!

Rand Paul raised over a million dollars today for his Kentucky senate run… You can donate here.

Ron Paul: Make Love (and Pay for Health Care) — Not War

A change to foreign policy and an end to our needless wars could cover the cost of health care for the elderly and poor.

But instead, Obama’s proposal is a bureaucratic, government solution to a problem created by the government in the first place and it will only make things worse. Obama is not ending the wars in the Middle East either (which are bad for the health of a lot of innocent people -AND- horribly expensive and bad for the economy as well. Unless you are a military contractor.)

Ron Paul on the Federal Reserve, Bailouts, and AIG Bonuses

The problem is the Federal Reserve and the bailouts, not the AIG bonuses (as bad as they are–they are just a symptom of the corrupted system).

Ron Paul further explained these facts on Fox Business News earlier today (3/24/2009):

Fox News Strategy with Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Lew Rockwell, Judge Napolitano, Others

Its interesting to see Fox News now hold a forum such as this involving a group of people like Ron Paul, Judge Napolitano, Peter Schiff, Lew Rockwell, and others who are such libertarian, pro-free market, pro-individual rights and non-neocon. Especially given the fact that only a year ago (give or take a few months) many Fox News hosts were deliberately cutting Ron Paul off when he would try to speak, misquoting him, and using all manner of underhanded techniques to marginalize him and his views, all the while promoting fascism and neoconservatism. There has definitely been a shift take place, less likely due any upsurge of good will or honesty from Fox News and more likely due to the fact that these people have been repeatedly proven right and that now the fox News viewership demands they be heard, but I could be wrong—I don’t actually ever watch the channel so maybe there has been less of a shift than I think. The fact that this forum even took place on Fox News is very interesting. Notice that even the logo has been changed here to white on a darker background instead of the usual blue and red.

Only a Return to Free Market Principles Can Save the Economy

The free market is not what got us into the current economic mess — but it is the only thing that could get us out of it.

To fix things of course would require a period of difficulty, and a nationwide determination to identify and root out corruption on all levels of government as well as in the corporate world. It would also take a return to Constitutional government, sacrifice (not the fake Obama kind) and a lot of personal responsibility. It seems as a whole that the nation lacks the capacity for all of that, so instead the country will probably just continue to spiral downward until everything totally falls apart.

But you have to keep trying to get support for true and effective principles even in the face of overwhelming odds.  Here is a clip from Ron Paul’s appearance on Brian and the Judge today:

A paraphrase of the great reminder from Dr. Paul:

Government does not exist to grant its individual citizens their rights. Government should exist only to secure and protect ALL rights — which each individual inherently has.
