Reagan Denounces the Myth of Trading Our Freedom For Security

Ronald Reagan’s great speech “A Time For Choosing” was presented a number of times during the 1964 presidential election on behalf of presidential candidate Barry Goldwater.

Reagan boldly denounces those who would “trade our freedom for security,” and those who say “our traditional system of individual freedom is incapable of solving the complex problems of the 20th century.” Reagan also denounces a senator who says “the constitution is outmoded. . .” and an “antiquated document.”


Redefining Privacy

WASHINGTON (AP) – As Congress debates new rules for government eavesdropping, a top intelligence official says it is time that people in the United States changed their definition of privacy. Privacy no longer can mean anonymity, says Donald Kerr, the principal deputy director of national intelligence. Instead, it should mean that government and businesses properly safeguard people’s private communications and financial information.
