As if it wasn’t bad and illegal enough to sneak the US into an unconstitutional, undeclared war, Dennis Kucinich explains that the way Obama forced the US into the Libyan war and the way he has executed the US action in the war “….exceeds even the wars powers act…it exceeds the UN mandate.” Kucinich states that “…we have a presidency right now that is dangerously close to being an imperial presidency because what the white house is doing essentially is nullifying the role that Congress has.”

Kucinich: “…In 2007 the justice department’s inspector General told Congress the FBI may have violated the law or government policy as many as 3000 times since 2003 in the course of secretly collecting telephone, bank and credit card records without warrants, instead using so-called national security letters that give them the ability to demand this information and get it. The Patriot Act is a destructive undermining of the Constitution …How about today we take a stand for the Constitution to say that all Americans should be free from unreasonable search and seizure…”
With real unemployment at around 22% and the recent admission that Goldman Sachs gave billions of dollars of the ‘bailout’ money they received from taxpayers to “overseas banks, hedge funds and pensions“, how can Congress possibly vote to spend another $37 billion of taxpayer money on wars that only create more enemies for the US? Will Congress ever stop selling out the America people?
Not only was the new war spending bill approved by the House, there was also a domestic spending package originally attached to the bill (which ‘contained a variety of domestic spending measures, including $10 billion for a fund to avoid layoffs of teachers, $5 billion for Pell Grants for low-income college students and $1 billion for a program to help teenagers and young adults get summer jobs’ ) that was cut from the approved version.
Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich join forces to push for U.S. withdrawal from Pakistan
Dennis Kucinich is interviewed by Judge Napalitano, discussing Afghanistan, the BP oil spill, liberty vs. security, and a foreign policy that is likely leading to a failed empire.
From Raw Story, Dennis Kucinich addresses Congress:
…“We are destroying our nation’s moral and fiscal integrity with this war supplemental,” Kucinich argued on the House floor Tuesday. “Instead of ending wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan now by appropriating only enough money to bring our troops home, Congress abdicates its constitutional authority, defers to the president, and asks for a report. That’s right, all we are asking for is a report on when the president will end the war.”
Kucinich continued, “There is also money for the IMF, presumably to bail out private European banks. Billions for the IMF so they can force low and middle income nations to cut jobs, wages, health care and retirement security, just like corporate America does to our constituents. And there’s money to incentivize the purchase of more cars, not necessarily from U.S. manufacturers because a ‘Buy America’ mandate was not allowed.”
“Another $106 billion dollars and all we get is a lousy war,” Kucinich said. “Pretty soon that is going to be about the only thing made in America – war.”
