Audit The Fed Bill “gutted” While Moving Toward House Vote

Who is Mel Watt representing?

Oct. 30 (Bloomberg) — Representative Ron Paul, the Texas Republican who has called for an end to the Federal Reserve, said legislation he introduced to audit monetary policy has been “gutted” while moving toward a possible vote in the Democratic-controlled House.

The bill, with 308 co-sponsors, has been stripped of provisions that would remove Fed exemptions from audits of transactions with foreign central banks, monetary policy deliberations, transactions made under the direction of the Federal Open Market Committee and communications between the Board, the reserve banks and staff, Paul said today.

“There’s nothing left, it’s been gutted,” he said in a telephone interview. “This is not a partisan issue. People all over the country want to know what the Fed is up to, and this legislation was supposed to help them do that.”

..Paul, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, said Mel Watt, a Democrat from North Carolina, has eliminated “just about everything” while preparing the legislation for formal consideration. Watt is chairman of the panel’s domestic monetary policy and technology subcommittee.

…Paul said he intends to introduce an amendment to the bill when it comes to the House floor for a vote restoring the legislation’s original language.

House passes Unread Climate ‘Cap and Tax’ Bill

“Politico reports that Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) raised questions about whether “there was even a copy of the current version of the bill anywhere in the House chamber.”

Rep. Michele Bachmann stated plainly that the bill was “a choice between liberty and tyranny,” claiming that the bill institute “control over nearly every aspect in the lives of the American people” and advocating the Forbes amendment.

Remarkably, Ed Markey, one of the bill’s co-sponsors, rose to report that a copy was only available at the speaker’s desk or online, which Politico reports, would require members “to leave the floor to access.” (Infowars)

Bachman: ‘A Gangster Government’

“No business is safe, when you see the administration appoint Czars. Car Czars, wage Czars. There’s over 20 Czars that have been appointed, and what do those Czars do? They bypass the Congress. We’re the people’s elected Representatives. We’ve been bypassed. We now have an imperial presidency where the President has appointed various Czars reporting directly to him. And now he’s reaching into the confines of private businesses and overnight rendering them virtually worthless, unless, unless they have a special tug, a political tie to a local democrat congressman.”

Kucinich: War Soon to Be the Only Thing Made In America

From Raw Story, Dennis Kucinich addresses Congress:

…“We are destroying our nation’s moral and fiscal integrity with this war supplemental,” Kucinich argued on the House floor Tuesday. “Instead of ending wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan now by appropriating only enough money to bring our troops home, Congress abdicates its constitutional authority, defers to the president, and asks for a report. That’s right, all we are asking for is a report on when the president will end the war.”

Kucinich continued, “There is also money for the IMF, presumably to bail out private European banks. Billions for the IMF so they can force low and middle income nations to cut jobs, wages, health care and retirement security, just like corporate America does to our constituents. And there’s money to incentivize the purchase of more cars, not necessarily from U.S. manufacturers because a ‘Buy America’ mandate was not allowed.”

“Another $106 billion dollars and all we get is a lousy war,” Kucinich said. “Pretty soon that is going to be about the only thing made in America – war.”

Kucinich: Who Are These People?

“Who are these people who keep coming up with these innovative ideas to keep wars going and to move jobs out of America?”
